Born and raised in Tulsa, Okla., Maddie Habeck is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and adopted Osage. She has a Master of Arts in Political and Intercultural Communication and a Bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Native American Studies, both from the University of Oklahoma (OU).

While at OU, Maddie interned for the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus and the Henderson Scholars Program. She was also a Social Justice Graduate Student Research Fellow and President of Gamma Delta Pi, the Native sorority at OU, for two years.

Previously, Maddie has worked as an Employment Specialist with Mental Health Association Oklahoma, and as an Integrated Domestic Violence Court Advocate with DVIS. Most recently, Maddie served as a Policy Analyst with Healthy Minds Policy Initiative where she analyzed issues related to the system of care for adults experiencing mental health conditions and substance use disorders, in addition to researching issues related to ensuring access to behavioral health care for Natives living in Oklahoma.

Maddie’s dedication to the community has been shown during her time as the Matriarch's Fundraising Chair and as a Gamma Delta Pi National Board member. In the Spring of 2019, she received the Good Samaritan Award from the Tulsa Fire Department.

Currently, Maddie is an active member of the Matriarch Tulsa Chapter, as well as Running Strong, a wellness club through Indian Healthcare Resource Center of Tulsa. Outside of the office, she has been training one of her two dogs as a psychiatric service dog, which has been incredibly rewarding and challenging. In her spare time, Maddie enjoys reading, hiking, spending time with her dogs, beadwork, and talking with her loved ones.
