Sarah Brown is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a Bachelor in Information Studies and a Master of Library and Information Science degree. After graduating, Sarah worked as a public librarian in Oklahoma County. Through this work, she developed her passion for advocacy and relationship building when she saw the lack of resources and access available to the at-risk and marginalized populations that she served. To fill this gap, Sarah built a network of governmental and community organizations, such as the Homeless Alliance, Palomar Family Justice Center, The Dragonfly Home, VA, and Oklahoma County Diversion Program, which she was able to leverage to serve customers across all nineteen public libraries in Oklahoma County. Sarah also led many DEIJB efforts at the library, ensuring that library programming was valuable, diverse, and culturally authentic, and that library spaces were safe and accessible for all.

After six years in librarianship, Sarah shifted to the nonprofit space where she initially worked as the Classroom Operations Manager for a national organization that provided tech education programs to currently incarcerated students along with reentry and workforce services to returned citizens. Now, as the Individual Giving Manager at AISES, Sarah is excited to work with donors to develop and enhance their own giving strategies. She hopes to utilize AISES member stories to showcase the connection between their successes and the impact of our donors' generosity, to fuel their continued patronage.

Outside of work, Sarah is a wife, mother of two, novice bead worker, and an avid reader. She is also a member of Matriarch, an Indigenous woman and 2-Spirit led non-profit, where she serves as the chair of the Fundraising Committee and the co-chair of the Outreach Committee. She also regularly volunteers and collaborates with Cousins, a nonprofit that serves Indigenous 2SLGBTQIA youth, The Dragonfly Home, and the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City.
