The Certified Federal Surveyors Program (CFedS) Scholarship - co-administered by the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and it provides unique and extensive training for PLS in understanding federal survey processes. CFedS is designed to: increase the pool of qualified surveyors to perform work on or near federal interest lands, including Indian lands; to ensure such surveys comply with federal regulations and policies, decreasing the chance and expense of rework; and provide opportunities to increase self-determination for Indian tribes.

Early Career Research Fellowships
The early-career research fellowship supports emerging scientists as they take risks on research ideas not yet tested, pursue unique collaborations, and build a network of colleagues who share their interest in preventing oil spills and in the well-being of coastal communities and ecosystems. These two-year fellowships are awarded to tenure-track faculty (or equivalent) at colleges, universities, and research institutions. Because the pretenure phase of a researcher’s career is a critical time, the unrestricted funds and mentoring this fellowship provides help recipients navigate this period with independence, flexibility, and a built-in support network.

Sea Grant John D. Knauss Fellowship for Graduate Students
An eligible applicant is any student, regardless of citizenship, who, on February 21, 2017, is enrolled towards a degree in a graduate or professional program, that have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources.

2017 Teen Science Scholars : Denver Museum of Nature & Science
Our Teen Science Scholar Internship offers high school students, who will be in their junior or senior year in high school in the Fall of 2017, a chance to work alongside scientists from our Research and Collections Team at the Museum. Selected students will be involved with various aspects of their mentors' research and/or collections programs, presenting an overview of their work at an annual symposium held at the Museum at the end of the summer.

We launched the StudySoup peer-to-peer learning marketplace in 2014. When we were in school, we found that success in the classroom can be a pretty ambiguous thing. The Geosciences Bridge Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore

2017 ITEP Student Summer Internship
The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals offers two types of internships for Native American and other college students. The student summer internship (SSI) program is a 8-week program for college students and the short internship (SIP) program is a 20 to 40 hour long internship program for high school and college students. The purpose of the internship programs is for students to gain hands-on skills with EPA or other governmental and tribal environmental offices. The internship programs are funded by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The focus of the program is to increase access to special, legal and copyright collections, and to promote awareness and appreciation of the Library's services to researchers including Congressional members, scholars, students, teachers, and the general public. NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates: Community College Cultivation Cohort (C4)
C4 students will be part of a greater research community, the Center for Dark Energy Biopshere Investigations (C-DEBI). C-DEBI seeks to better understand the ecology of the subseafloor as the global ocean comprises the Earth’s largest biome, with microorganisms playing a dominant biogeochemical role.

SSSC (SJ Hatchery) Fish Technician Paid Internship
As an intern at the SJ (Sheldon Jackson) hatchery, you will be an valuable addition to our SSSC team. During work hours here you will be helping out with basic fish culture tasks, learning about southeast Alaska’s fisheries and helping to educate visitors and peers that visit us at the Science Center.  Your time in Sitka will be split between SJ hatchery and NSRAA (Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association) a local private non-profit organization that is owned by commercial fishermen (nsraa.org) and while there, you will gain hands on experience doing a variety of tasks involved with salmon aquaculture which may include chinook cost recovery, Freshwater fish culture and maintenance related tasks.

Research Assistantships in Observational Astronomy
Students will work on individual research projects with Cornell faculty and research staff on a wide range of topics in planetary science, astronomical instrumentation, astrophysics, general relativity and cosmology. In addition to conducting individual research projects, students will also participate in a series of activities including lectures, roundtables and workshops.

The GEM course is an introductory microbiology field course for undergraduates who are contemplating a career in scientific research. 2017 Amgen Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The Amgen Scholars Program at NIH is a summer internship for undergraduate students interested in PhD and combined degree programs in the sciences. Students interested in attending medical or other professional school programs should apply to the broader NIH Summer Internship Program.  Students with experience in health disparities and a keen interest in learning more about the biological, environmental, social, and genetic causes of health disparities are especially encouraged to apply. The admission committee will give preference to students who lack opportunities to perform independent research during the school year.

Research Internships
 
NEON offers a variety of research internships for undergraduates each summer, from helping to design sensor assemblies to testing sampling protocols and analyzing data. Interns work alongside staff mentors; and explore career options in weekly professional development seminars and networking events with interns from other scientific programs based in Boulder, CO. Interns work 40 hours a week and are paid a competitive salary. Airfare and housing are also covered by the program.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarship
The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women studying baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In 2016, SWE awarded approximately 230 new and renewed scholarships valued at over $750,000.

Gulf Research Program Science Policy Fellowships
The science policy fellowship program helps early-career scientists hone their skills by putting them to practice for the benefit of Gulf Coast communities and ecosystems. Fellows gain first-hand policymaking experience as they spend a year on the staff of federal or state environmental, natural resource, oil and gas, or public health agencies in the Gulf of Mexico region. This immersive experience is mutually beneficial for fellows and their hosts.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates
Each summer, eight selected students will spend nine weeks at the Shannon Point Marine Center conducting original research with a faculty adviser. In the past, student research projects have included work on productivity and nutrient cycling in local watershed systems; ocean acidification; marine microbial ecology; marine chemical ecology; physiology of symbiosis; ecology and physiology of seaweeds; larval development, physiology, ecology; and environmental toxicology.

Summer Research Program in Biophysics
This 11-week scholarship program hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, introduces underrepresented* students to the field of biophysics. The program includes lectures, seminars, lab work, team-building activities and field trips. The Summer Research Program is designed to reflect a graduate-level research program. Students who are US citizens or permanent residents and who have a strong quantitative background in basic or applied sciences are encouraged to apply.

HackEd
HackEd is a 7 week hands-on-keyboard cybersecurity training, certification, and job placement program.  And it’s free.  There is no tuition.  We identify technical professionals with 90% of the necessary IT and communication skills and we provide them the final 10% required for successful careers in cybersecurity.  We then help our participants earn industry-recognized certifications and introduce them to employers who are hiring cybersecurity talent.   Our goal is to graduate well-rounded security professionals that are trained and ready to make an immediate impact in their new jobs.  HackEd has set aside one third of the spots in our first class for qualified women and veterans of the Armed Forces.

Indigenous and Scientific Knowledges for Biocultural Restoration
The award will support an initial cohort of three new Native American graduate students with full tuition, stipend and research expenses, as well as undergraduate research apprenticeships. Biocultural restoration serves as the unifying theme for coursework and research.

L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program
The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program awards five women postdoctoral scientists annually with grants of $60,000 each for their contributions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields and commitment to serving as role models for younger generations. The program is the U.S. component of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Fellowships.

The Jonathan O. Davis Scholarship: Division of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences
The national scholarship, administered by the Division of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences of the Desert Research Institute, is open to graduate students enrolled in an M.S. or Ph.D. program at any university in the United States.
