AISES A.T. Anderson Scholarship (2021-2022)

All AISES scholarship applications have three stages.

Stage 1: Applicant Profile

All students must complete a Profile in the OASIS scholarship platform. For the 21-22 year, AISES has switched to a new scholarship platform, so all applicants must create a new account and complete a new profile. The same email address used on the old OASIS platform may be used to create your new account on the new OASIS portal.  Access OASIS here to set up your account.  OASIS is separate from the AISES membership portal and requires a unique username and password. Keep your OASIS login information as you may need to log-on multiple times to upload documents and check to see if your letters of recommendation have been submitted by your recommenders.

Stage 2: Scholarship Applications

Students must fully complete the OASIS Eligibility Form to view the scholarship(s) for which they are eligible. To apply for an eligible scholarship, students must answer the required questions and submit all requested documents. Once completed, the AISES scholarships that you qualify for will be listed for you to apply to. Each scholarship must be applied for separately and each scholarship will have unique requirements.

Required Documents for all STAGE 2 Applications

• Resume: Submit your current resume through the OASIS platform. E-mailed resumes will not be accepted. If you need help creating a resume, your school will likely have a Career-Services office that can help. You can also find many good resources at https://careers.aises.org/jobseeker/resources.
• Transcript(s): Submit your most recent Academic Transcripts.  The transcripts can be unofficial or official at this time.
• Tribal Citizenship/Indigenous Native Verification: Enrollment documents and/or a copy of birth certificate(s) showing descendancy from an enrolled citizen, Indigenous group of Canada, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander are acceptable. Applicant may also, instead, provide a copy of their Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or Certificate of Degree of Alaska Native Blood (CDIB) card.
• Letters of Recommendation: Be sure to give your recommenders plenty of time to complete their recommendation (at least three weeks). It is often helpful to talk with them before you submit the form, to ensure they can complete a positive recommendation for you in a timely fashion. All recommendation letters must be submitted through the OASIS platform.
• Essays: Students are required to submit 3 essays, up to 500 words each.  These essays are an important part of the scholarship review process. 
  • Essay Prompt 1: Please share a personal statement highlighting your background, academic achievements, and interests. Include information on courses taken and any honors or advanced placement courses. Talk about what motivates and challenges you intellectually and what impact you hope to have in your community and/or profession.
  • Essay Prompt 2: What stimulated your interest in your chosen major or area of study?   
  • Essay Prompt 3:  What activity or activities (cultural, community-related, occupational, academic, athletic, etc.) most clearly reflect your character?  Please describe your participation. Why is participation in this activity or these activities important to you?

Stage 3: Post Acceptance

After the finalists have been selected, the Finalists will move into post acceptance where they will be required to submit additional documents for final verification.

• A thank you letter to the scholarship donor
• A signed AISES direct deposit form with accompanying bank information
