Kari Rasmussen joined the Development Team in 2021. She works closely with both the VP of Business Development and the VP of Programs and Research to develop new programs and support current programs at AISES. She works to identify and secure resources through engagement of partners to provide successful AISES mission-driven initiatives. Kari primarily works to pursue grant opportunities and ensures compelling proposal development through her strong written and verbal communication skills. She continually strives to produce winning results, reach team goals, expand the AISES partner portfolio, and increase collaboration for organizational success.

Kari is driven by a curiosity about people, science, and our environment. She is an accomplished professional with 20 years of experience in STEM education and has had a vibrant career, ranging from teaching marine science to students on a sailing vessel in the Pacific Ocean to creating culturally relevant educational opportunities for teachers and students throughout Alaska Native villages in rural Alaska. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for Project Co-STEM, an NSF grant focused on culturally connected STEM education, as a teacher advisor.

Kari holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and is currently working on earning a Master of Education in Educational Leadership at Concordia University. Kari grew up in the desert southwest of Arizona and Utah. She is based in Utah and loves being close to her 10 nieces and nephews, while also enjoying outdoor activities, cooking, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.
