The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2017 AISES National Conference.  Held annually, the conference is the premier event for American Indian science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students and professionals.

National Native Health Research Training Initiative
AISES is proud to announce partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Indian Health Service, the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, and the Native Research Network in launching the First Annual National Native Health Research Training (NNHRT) Conference!

Calling all high school, undergraduate, and graduate students and professionals who would like to present their STEM research! We invite you to PRESENT at the 2017 AISES National Conference in Denver, CO this September 21-23, 2017!  This call is for both oral and poster research presentations.

Now Accepting Call for Session Proposals for the 2017 AISES National Conference
AISES has opened the call for session proposals and encourages a diverse array of session presenters!  If you have never presented at an AISES conference, we encourage you to do so! 


Accepting Nominations for the 2017 Ely S. Parker Award
The purpose of the award is to recognize those Indian leaders who most clearly embody AISES’ mission and goals through their achievements and contributions to science, technology, engineering, and math. The nominee must be an experienced American Indian or Alaska Native professional who has or has made significant contributions in STEM education or the STEM workforce. AISES membership is not required.

2017 AISES Professional Awards Call for Nominations
The awards honor individuals whose work through research, teaching or service represent extraordinary and lasting contributions to STEM fields. Candidates are recognized for their accomplishments in STEM and their commitment to ingenuity, progression, sharing and learning among individuals and organizations. All recipients will be honored at the 2017 AISES National Conference September 21-23 in Denver, CO. Application Postmark Deadline: June 30, 2017

Lighting the Pathway to Faculty Careers for Natives in STEM 
This full circle of support will help guide students to successful degree completion and advancement to the next stage on the academic career path. In addition to full circle mentorship, the program strives to provide students with valuable academic and professional support, travel funding, and educational, research, fellowship, and internship opportunities.

Volunteer for the National Conference
We request volunteers commit to a 6-hour time slot.  With that commitment, volunteers will be provided a volunteer shirt and a 50% discounted registration to the conference. The discount applies to a full conference registration only.

2017 National Conference Travel Scholarships
AISES is pleased to announce that we will begin accepting applications for travel scholarships to this year’s National Conference in Denver, CO September 21-23, 2017. Awards will vary in amount and are meant to help cover the following expenses: roundtrip airfare, lodging, and conference registration. Any remaining funds after those items will help to cover other associated travel costs.

Pre-College Opportunities

Design Squad Global (DSG)  
Announcing new dates for DSG Clubs, where kids (age 9-13) in afterschool programs around the world connect through hands-on engineering projects designed to tackle real-world problems. This summer DSG clubs registered through the NGCP from Maine, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wyoming, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oregon, and Paraguay will be partnering with DSG clubs from around the globe to work together on engineering projects that make a difference in their communities!  Register your youth program to participate in the next round of clubs launching Fall 2017.   

SciGirls STEM training hosted by Concordia University Chicago
River Forest, IL; August 12, 2017
Based on the Emmy-award winning PBS KIDS television series SciGirls, educators who work with middle and high school girls are invited to participate in this hands-on, minds-on professional development training. Attendees will learn the latest research for exciting and engaging girls (and boys) in STEM, experience hands-on STEM activities, leave with curriculum that puts a creative twist on teaching STEM, learn how to modify activities to engage kids in STEM using the SciGirls Seven and discover additional online resources that enhance teaching and learning experiences for all kids.

Native American Fish & Wildlife 26th Annual National Summer Youth Practicum - The Practicum will take place July 24, 2017 to July 28, 2017 in Choctaw, MS and is designed to provide Native American high school students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of natural resources, fish and wildlife and parks management. All travel expenses to the program as well as food and field trip expenses are provided.

CGTrader is the largest 3D model marketplace backed by the strong designer community of more than 500k members. CGTrader was founded with the goal to ensure fair marketplace conditions for 3D designers. Enter the CGTrader Scholarship 2017 challenge to win $3,000 for your education bills. The best submission will be awarded $2,000 while the two runners-up will receive $500 each.

NASA Internships 
Educational hands-on traineeships that provide unique NASA-related research and operational experiences for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students as well as educators. These internships integrate participants with career professionals emphasizing mentor-directed, degree-related, real-world task completion. During the internship participants engage in scientific or engineering research, development, and operations activities. In addition, there are non-technical internship opportunities to engage in professional activities which support NASA business and administrative processes.

2017 SACNAS Travel Scholarship
SACNAS is offering travel scholarships to attend 2017 SACNAS – The National Diversity in STEM Conference until July 14. The travel scholarship provides free conference registration, lodging and round-trip flight. 2017 SACNAS will take place in Salt Lake City, UT, from October 19-21.

Archeology Intern- Canyon de Chelly National Monument
You will assist park archaeologists with archaeological surveys, recording and monitoring archaeological sites, traditional cultural properties, and Navajo cultural landscapes. You’ll manage archaeological site files and computer databases, and possibly assist park staff with archival projects.

National Trail System 50th Anniversary Events & VIP support intern

The 2017 Symposium: Engineering A World of Difference: Academic-Industry Connections

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Watershed Hydrology
The fellow will join the Caspar Creek research team to study watershed hydrology in managed coastal forests in northern California. Specifically, the fellow will synthesize data collected from past experiments and implement new studies associated with the third experiment in the Caspar Creek watersheds.
