2016 Board of Directors Election
CURRENT General and Associate members are now able to cast their ballot for the 2016 Board of Directors election! AISES conducts voting electronically. All votes must be cast by September 6, 2016.

Ely S. Parker Award - Call for Nominations
The Ely S. Parker Award is the highest honor bestowed by AISES. The purpose of the award is to recognize those Indian leaders who most clearly embody AISES’ mission and goals through their achievements and contributions to science, technology, engineering, and math.

AISES National Conference Research Track Proposals - AISES welcomes students and professionals to participate in this year’s NEW research track. The deadline for submission of proposals is September 7, 2016.

College Chapter Video Competition - AISES invites college chapters to help other students prepare for the 2016 AISES National Conference by putting together a short video explaining topics related to the National Conference.  

National Junior Student Representative - Applications are now being accepted for the position of the National Junior Student Rep. Voting will take place at the 2016 National Conference.

College Chapter/Advisor Awards -  The College Chapter Awards Program has four categories and one overarching award for overall excellence selected from among the applicants. Applications are now being accepted for the chapter awards and Advisor of the Year award.

Professional Chapter of the Year - The Professional Chapter Awards Program allows chapters to identify their strengths and recognize the accomplishments of their fellow chapters. Applications are now being accepted.

AISES Scholarships:

Navel Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) And Strategic Systems Program Scholarship
Open to high school seniors. Consists of two parts, a one-time $10,000 scholarship awarded freshman year; and an opportunity to apply for summer employment, which provides technical work experience and continued tuition assistance.

THE ASSIST PROGRAM: Travel Assistance and Professional Development Program, for: Engineering Graduate Student, Post-Doctoral Fellows, and Early-Career Faculty
With funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is able to bring up to 40 PhD students, post-doc professionals, and early-career faculty in Engineering to the 2016 AISES National Conference for professional development workshops, cultural activities, and networking.

2016 AISES National Conference Travel Scholarships
AISES is pleased to announce that it will begin accepting applications for travel scholarships to this year’s National Conference in Minneapolis, MN November 10-12, 2016. These scholarships will provide travel assistance to college students pursuing degrees in STEM fields.  Students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited two-year college or four-year college/university or a full-time student and enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree.

2017 Alan T. Waterman Award (National Science Foundation)
The National Science Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Alan T. Waterman award. Congress established the Alan T. Waterman Award in August 1975 to mark the 25th Anniversary of the National Science Foundation and to honor its first Director. The annual award recognizes an outstanding young researcher in any field of science or engineering supported by the National Science Foundation.

The Certified Federal Surveyors Program (CFedS) Scholarship -
Co-administered by the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and it provides unique and extensive training for PLS in understanding federal survey processes. CFedS is designed to: increase the pool of qualified surveyors to perform work on or near federal interest lands, including Indian lands; to ensure such surveys comply with federal regulations and policies, decreasing the chance and expense of rework; and provide opportunities to increase self-determination for Indian tribes.

A global gathering October 27-29,2016 in Philadelphia of more than 9,000 women at all stages of their engineering careers. Collegiate's will find internships, that all-important first job, new friends, mentors and life-skills not earned in the lecture halls.

Tapia Conference - highlights and celebrates the technical achievements of diverse people in computer science.  With over 1,000 participants, it is the premiere venue to find mentors, find internships/jobs, learn about career paths in academia and industry, learn about the latest research, and build networks with other diverse people in the field of computing. Tapia is more than just a conference; it’s a community.

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) envisions widespread, inclusive, and equitable environments in engineering, academia, and industry that embrace individual differences and leverage diversity for a better engineered tomorrow. The ASEE Diversity Committee wants students from all walks of life and grade levels to share their community story by submitting an entry into the essay and/or video contests.

2016 Siemens Competition is Now Open
The Siemens Foundation established the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology in 1999. The Competition is the nation’s premier science research competition for high school students and seeks to promote excellence by encouraging students to undertake individual or team research projects. It fosters intensive research that improves students' understanding of the value of scientific study and informs their consideration of future careers in these disciplines. Scholarships for winning projects range from $1,000 to $100,000.

ESA LOFT Video Game Innovation Fellowship
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) Leaders on the Fast Track (LOFT) Video Game Innovation Fellowship challenges minority youths (ages 15-25) to develop video games and apps addressing social issues impacting their communities. Twenty Fellows, ages 15-25, will receive grants to continue development of their projects and fly to Washington, D.C. this October and present their ideas to the White House, Congress, and national community leaders.  The Fellows will be selected for their vision, creativity and positive impact in their community.

Champions for Change- The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) is now accepting applications for the 2017 class of Champions for Change! Champions for Change are young Native Americans (ages 14 to 22) who demonstrate leadership and service within tribal and urban Indian communities, schools, and/or programs.

During the internship participants engage in scientific or engineering research, development, and operations activities. In addition, there are non-technical internship opportunities to engage in professional activities which support NASA business and administrative processes.

Student employment assignments are open to associate, undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students and are based on entry-level professional job descriptions, which will involve a great deal of independent and team oriented work under the guidance of a senior-level supervisor and mentors. 

Native Agriculture and Food Systems Scholarship Program - First Nations Development Institute will award ten $1,000 scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic school year to Native American college students majoring in agriculture and agriculture-related fields, including but not limited to: agribusiness management, agronomy, animal husbandry, aquaponics, environmental engineering, fisheries and wildlife, food production and safety, food-related policy and legislation, food science and technology, horticulture, irrigation science, nutrition education, and sustainable agriculture or food systems.

2017 STEP Ahead Award Nominations Are Now Open
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Production (STEP) Ahead initiative honors and promotes the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership. The STEP Ahead Awards recognize women at all levels of manufacturing, from the factory floor to the C-suite. These women exemplify the smart, safe and sustainable workforce critical to keeping U.S. manufacturing globally competitive.
