Undergraduate Research Opportunity: Broadening Participation in Computing Professionals Program
Through AISES’ partnership with the National Science Foundation, AISES offers the Broadening Participation in Computing Professionals Program. The ultimate goal is to increase the number of American Indian students majoring in computing disciplines, working in a computing career, pursuing graduate education in the computing fields, and ultimately attaining a Ph.D. in a computing discipline. This project will use the undergraduate research opportunity as an integrating context for attracting and informing American Indian postsecondary students to
careers in computing. The program will be structured to maximally expose the students within an undergraduate research opportunity host institution(s) that is versed in computing theory, applications, and role models. This approach will expand the students’ academic and professional horizons; and ultimately inspire more American Indian students to complete baccalaureate and graduate degrees in computing disciplines. This project is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. The student will spend about 8 – 10 weeks at the host institution.
