Postdoctoral Fellow in  Microbiology
Miami University

Microbiology:  Postdoctoral Fellow (two positions) to study iron acquisition in bacterial pathogens 
(position one); study “unculturable” bacteria and bacterial consortia (position two).  Require:  Doctoral 
degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or closely related discipline.  For position one, send letter of

Denali Fellowship Program

Center for Progressive Leadership's New Leaders Internship Program

The Center for Progressive Leadership's New Leaders Internship Program is a paid ten-week summer program in Washington D.C. for young people from underrepresented communities across the country with a demonstrated passion for progressive change. Each New Leader is matched with a paid internship in a leading progressive organization in DC, including policy and research work, advocacy, organizing, media relations, and on-line communications. CPL New Leaders also participate in orientation and closing workshops, weekly trainings, coaching, and a variety of networking events, conferences and other opportunities.
 

Bromery Fellowship for Ph.D. Students in Earth and Planetary Science Fall 2009 Fellowship

The Bromery Fellowship, available to graduate students within the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, was endowed to foster the very diversity that the University and the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences embrace. Through this fellowship, Dr. Randolph W. Bromery and the department commit to providing equal access to graduate education for graduate students from underrepresented minorities.

Eligibility
Applications will be based on a combination of factors including the candidate's GPA, letters of recommendation, test scores, statement of purpose and interview. We welcome qualified students with a degree from any university or college but we especially welcome applications from candidates who:

Have received their undergraduate degree from a historically black college or university; Have received their undergraduate degree from a tribal college; or Have been a McNair or other TRIO Program Scholar, Project 1000 Scholar, LSAMP or MARC Scholar.

This program will be reviewed periodically to ensure that its criteria remain an effective and appropriate means for fostering diversity.

AMERICORPS*VISTA MEMBER – Association on American Indian Affairs, Rockville, MD

The Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA), the oldest Indian advocacy and service organization in the United States founded in 1922. Our work focuses in the areas of cultural preservation, youth/scholarships, health and sovereignty. Additional information about AAIA can be found at www.indian-affairs.org.

Position:
We are currently recruiting a VISTA volunteer to serve in its Rockville, Maryland office to begin as soon as possible. The role of the volunteer would be to develop and implement an Internet fundraising program for our organization. This project would be part of a larger fundraising effort that includes direct mail, bequests, foundation and government grants and workplace giving campaigns. Ultimately, we anticipate that the AmeriCorps*VISTA member will be able to develop our capacity to raise funds over the Internet by tapping into and developing a variety of approaches which could include, among other things: registering with search engines, banner advertising, working with portals, partnerships and other types of online promotions, building email lists, e-newsletters, broadcast e-mails, and marketing through such mechanisms as MySpace and You Tube.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of Internet as it pertains to the above position requirements and ability to work collaboratively.

Compensation:
VISTA members receive a monthly living allowance of $883, monthly housing stipend, health insurance, training and a $4,725 educational award after one year of service.

USDA National Needs Graduate Fellowships
As a consortium of public wheat breeders from seven universities across the country, we are offering Fellowships for students to complete M.S. degrees in plant breeding with emphases on variety development and application of genomics and bioinformatics. The seven students will join a national team of public wheat breeders dedicated to the genetic improvement of wheat. In addition to training at their home universities, students will participate as a team for advanced training in crop genomics and bioinformatics.

Position:  Engineering-Product Development Internship

The Chrysler Team is writing a new chapter in our company’s proud history and looking for you to be a part of our future.  There is a special spirit at the New Chrysler – do you have it in you?

We’re looking for qualified candidates to fill Engineering-Product Development Internship positions at Chrysler.

Selected candidates are assigned to a department within the Engineering Product Development Organization based on the candidate’s technical background and interests.  The assignment is project-oriented, meaningful to the department, allows the intern to take responsibility for a major task, and allows the intern to experience a sense of personal accomplishment and contribution.

The timeframe for internships are usually from May through August.  Those interns meeting eligibility requirements may be considered for the Chrysler Institute of Engineering (CIE) Program upon graduation.

  • Basic Qualifications:
    -Attained sophomore standing with at least one summer remaining prior to graduation
    -Major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)
    -Equivalent of 3.00/4.00 GPA or higher
    -Williing to relocate to Michigan
    -Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US

Hydrology Graduate Fellowship Training Program
The NOAA/National Weather Service Office of Hydrologic Development (OHD) has established the Hydrology Graduate Fellowship Training Program in support of the OHD research activities. The program will be administered by the NOAA-CREST Center at the City College of New York.

The program will award two fellowships annually.  One fellowship is restricted to students pursuing graduate degrees at one of the NOAA/CREST campuses. The other fellowship is open to any student pursuing graduate degrees at any university in the US and its territories.  The fellowships will be one- to four- year appointments, renewable annually, depending on student performance and funding availability. Both US and non-US citizens may apply for the fellowships. Each fellowship amounts to $50,000. The fellowships are designed to provide support and guidance to select scientific graduate students with the goal of training a new generation of scientists to meet the workforce needs of NOAA and the nation.
