Paulette Steeves

Paulette Steeves, first generation college student. I obtained my GED in 1995 and then my BA Honors Cum Laude at the University of Arkansas. I am a Current recipient of a Clark Fellowship, a five year award for masters and PhD at Binghamton University. My undergraduate honors research work supported repatriation and cultural affiliation for the Quapaw. Mitochondrial DNA Tracking and Typing of America's Ancient Cultures Establishing mtDNA Markers for the Quapaw Tribe 2000. In my graduate work I plan to focus on research that will support the rewriting of education and history books, on the peopling of the New World, including molecular science and oral traditions. I am also focusing on using molecular science to assist Native American groups who want to use science to support repatriation, and identification of traditional tribal areas. I worked in Cultural Resource Management as an archaeologist for five years.
In 1994 I served a year as a board member on the board of directors for the Toronto Aboriginal Legal Aid Society.
