Nikishna Polequaptewa

2007 Most Promising Impact Award Graduate Poster Presenter. UCI has chosen Nikishna Numkina Polequaptewa, an accomplished UCI alumnus, to serve as Director of the American Indian Resource Program. Nikishna is a member of the Hopi Tribe in northeastern Arizona. He belongs to the Badger and Spider clans and is an active member of the American Indian community. Nikishna was a high school participant in UCI's American Indian Summer Institute in Computer Science summer residential program in 1999. Since then, he has graduated from Sherman Indian High School; earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine; and went on to obtain a Master of Science degree from Central Washington University. "My heart has always been here at UCI in so many facets. Helping students believe in and achieve their dreams is my greatest goal." |
