Aaron Thomas
2004 AISES Promising Engineer/Scientist Award
Dr. Aaron Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Idaho. Dr. Thomas is noted as being only one of a handful of American Indians with their PhD in engineering and is believed to be the only American Indian with a PhD in Chemical Engineering. During his tenure at the University of Idaho, Dr. Thomas as a member of an advisory group, has taught various courses to American Indian students and non-Native students and has been influential in the establishment of the up-and-coming Native American Center. Aaron is the advisor of the University of Idaho AISES Chapter and Co-Advisor for the American Student Association. Dr. Thomas believes that in order to make change one must be the catalyst for change. He has demonstrated a wiliness to share his academic experience with American Indian students and has exemplified his outstanding contribution to the field of Chemical Engineering. His combined strengths in his technical ability and educational commitments are the foundations for a promising career in academia.
