STUDENT RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS

GRADUATE STUDENT POSTER AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS
The AISES National Conference will feature poster sessions and oral presentations for graduate students to present the results of their scientific research. The goals of the session are to showcase the students and their work for other conference participants (including potential employers), to provide students with feedback on the quality of their research and poster from judges and other professionals, and to allow students to obtain citable credit for their presentation (and possibly departmental support for attending the conference).

By October 24, 2007, students must submit to Velinda.woriax@uncp.edu an abstract in electronic form, which will be collated for distribution at the conference. Abstracts must include the poster title, the authors’ names, institutions, contacts, and sponsors, as well as a brief summary of the project and a two- or three-sentence biographic description of the presenters. An abstract template is available below. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Students may participate in either the poster or oral presentation and should indicate their preference on their submission.

Student presenters will receive a complimentary conference registration.
Limited Travel Stipends are available!   Ten travel stipends in the amount of $500 are available to the first 10 students to submit abstracts.  Stipends will be disbursed on-site after the presentation of research. Cash awards will be presented at the Honors Banquet for graduate poster award winners.

Call for Judges:
Additional judges are being recruited to judge the 2007 Graduate Student Poster sessions. Judges must have a Ph.D. and be familiar with the process for presenting professional posters.
NOTE: The judges committee is specifically looking to recruit judges in computer science and engineering. If you are interested in judging, please contact Cristy Davies by email at cristy@aises.org.

UNDERGRADUATE POSTER AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Sponsored by All Nations Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (ANLSAMP)

Undergraduate students are invited to present a poster or oral presentation of their scientific research on Friday, November 2, 2007. The goals of the poster and oral presentation showcase are to encourage undergraduate research, provide a forum for students to interact with faculty and peers and to bolster students’ skills as scientists and communicators. The competition is divided into two categories, an oral presentation, and a poster presentation. Contestants may enter either or both competitions. Prizes will be given for both categories in first through third places.

All poster/oral entries must include an abstract. Entry deadline for registration and abstracts is October 24, 2007. Late entries and entries without abstracts will not be accepted.
Student presenters will receive a complimentary conference registration.
